Oaxaca Prisoners Freedom Betrayed

According to Francisco Toledo Oaxaca's situation is rather surrealistic. On the one hand, governor kills, represses, and jails opponents. On the other hand, government pays fines for detained and frees them. Well,… I somehow disagree with Toledo. Waste to say that, governor paid fines only after recognising that there were innocent people jailed. Furthermore, now this report from ‘prensa latina’ points out that the prisoners who were promised freedom have been betrayed. (Note by Wet_Ahuizote).

Mexico, Jan 2 (Prensa Latina) Members of the Popular Assembly of the Peoples of Oaxaca (APPO) and relatives of the people arrested during the conflict in that Mexican state continue camped outside several jails, demanding their promised release.

Castulo Lopez, from the APPO press and propaganda commission, pointed out the Government Secretariat had promised to release all prisoners before the end of 2006.

He explained the sit-ins were agreed by the APPO state council, and relatives of Oaxaca s political prisoners, as well of those who have been disappeared or murdered to push for their release.

The relatives of the prisoners denounced they are victims of psychological pressures, and said federal and State administrations will be responsible for any possible action against them.
